A baby was strapped to my back, while the other crawled in the playground. I spent 12 hours days over months of sanding, and taking wallpaper off, all while carrying one kid. Ha! The home was beginning to look good, but there were a few things to be done. It was going to take an enormous amount of effort and my personal favorite brands interiors to decorate this place. To keep within budget, I began by taking my sons to estate sales in search of diamonds. Each week we would spend between Thursday and Saturday in garage sales and estate sales, buying old and new furniture. Then I painted and sanded the driveway in the week. It was a bit like the picture below... This is when my interest in restoration of furniture started. I kept on restoring furniture long after we decorated our house. I had a space at the local market and even sold some items there. Eventually, I had too numerous pieces of furniture to fit into the space available. There were open houses in my home which saw over 1 000 guests would come through in the span of a weekend. They could purchase whatever they saw on the ground floor. Growing Days is the result of this. Apart from my successful business, I also had the pleasure of growing our family. I was trying to find that perfect balance between what it took to start a new business as well as a mother too. Growing Days just seemed to fit. In 2013, my sweet daughter Nora joined our 4th kiddo. Though I was content with the direction that my business took, I felt like I was in need of some time off. I opted to take a little break from my antique furniture and slow down to remain at home with the children. That was precisely what I needed. It was only after several months when the phones began to ring. They wanted my help in interior decoration and renovations. These were mostly customers who came to my open house for furniture. Once I had a few months I started taking on clients according to my schedule. Before long I had several accounts and a home renovations business. When I first heard about my home renovation business I laughed. In fact, I do smile when I think about it.
